Support at work
If you live with disability or a chronic medical condition, support is available through a wide range of programs and services to help you find a job and maintain employment. There is also help available if you acquire a disability throughout your working life.
Know your rights
It is against the law for employers to discriminate against people with disability. If you can perform the inherent (essential) requirements of a job, you have every right to be considered for the role on an equitable basis with other candidates, and if successful, to undertake paid work and claim the same workplace rights as other employees.
You can maximise your chances of success by being proactive and prepared when communicating with employers. The resources below can help you to think about how to disclose a disability, request reasonable adjustments, and champion the benefits of an inclusive and diverse workplace culture.
